Michigan Advancing Guardianship Innovations Center (MAGIC)

The Michigan Advancing Guardianship Innovations Center (MAGIC) will drive innovative approaches to protecting and empowering vulnerable individuals at risk of or under guardianship. Through this project, MEJI will implement some key innovations such as providing courts with the information they need to limit guardianships to honor individual abilities, introducing resources that can reform the role and expectations of the guardian ad litem, and cross-training of medical professionals and members of the bar and judiciary. MAGIC will build on this first set of initiatives, incorporate and pursue innovations from around the country, and introduce enlightened approaches to our flawed adult guardianship system.

With generous funding from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, MAGIC will fill a crucial gap in innovation and education. MAGIC will have both immediate and lasting impact on the autonomy and well-being of vulnerable adults and the judicial system and stakeholders who seek to meet their needs.
