About the event:
On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care and Michigan Elder Justice Initiative co-hosted a legislative event in Lansing to release our joint report, Public Funds into Private Pockets: How Nursing Homes May Be Hiding Profits and Depriving Residents of Care and Quality. Attendees heard from national and state experts and learned what lawmakers, policymakers, and advocates can do to improve nursing home transparency and accountability in Michigan. Ombudsmen, from the Michigan Long Term Care Ombudsmen Program, read quotes from nursing home residents to highlight residents’ challenges with quality of care and quality of life. Many Michigan legislators and legislative staff attended as well as staff from the Office of the Attorney General, advocacy groups, media, and others
