Michigan Elder Justice Initiative (MEJI) and Michigan Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (MLTCOP) staff members have been featured in new articles in MLive and the Detroit Free Press regarding nursing homes.

The MLive article cites testimony from State Ombudsman Salli Pung, Systemic Public Policy Advocate Sarah Slocum, and Director Alison Hirschel in front of the Senate Oversight Committee on the need for better staffing and more financial transparency.

The Free Press article quotes Assistant State Ombudsman Michelle Danou speaking about legislation to increase Medicaid nursing home residents’ $60/month personal needs allowance.  MEJI and MLTCOP are pleased to continue their advocacy for better quality of care and life for Michigan’s nursing home residents, and welcomes support from other individuals and organizations that share these goals.
